Sean O'Connell, Ph.D. - Professor, Mount Sinai School of Medicine; Former Director, Novartis

Dr. O'Connell serves as Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular Surgery at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, a Mount Sinai School of Medicine-affiliated Hospital, where he provides oversight of pre-clinical and clinical research programs. Dr. O'Connell also serves as Chief Medical Officer and President, Wound Care Division of Cascade Medical Enterprises, LLC. He is former Medical Director for Sandoz Pharmaceuticals and Director, Medical Affairs for the Transplantation /Tissue Engineering/Immunology Business Unit of Novartis Pharmaceuticals, with responsibility for pre-clinical and clinical development, publications and professional relations.

Dr. O'Connell received his PhD in immunology and molecular biology from Rutgers University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey at New Brunswick. Additional post-graduate work includes a post-doctoral fellowship at the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine.

Dr. O'Connell's professional memberships include the International Society of Analytical Cytology, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Association for Advanced Wound Care/Medical Research Forum on Wound Repair and the Wound Healing Society/European Tissue Repair Society.
